To Mr.
Gillespie,
November 3, 2003
After reading a CNN article of your complaints about the upcoming CBS
mini-series called, “The Reagans”, all I have to say to you and to use
the words of President Reagan himself is, “There you go again”, making
assumptions of what a movie may contain without having first viewed it.
And we all know that age-old saying about assuming anything. It makes
an ass out of you and me. Well, frankly you and the RNC are making a
total ass out of yourselves and being belligerent ones at that.
First off, you do not tell a network how they are to present any movie
they choose to present. You do not ask of them to run anything at the
bottom of the screen if you find what they are portraying is
misleading. If you feel it is, you have your well-oiled press machine
to deal with that.
While you have the right of free speech to present your side of Pres.
Reagan’s record by selling videotapes on your site, CBS also has the
right of free speech in airing their program in the way it wishes to do
so. Did you ever hear of the Constitution? You know that sacred
document that your president has seen fit to shred. Well, the first
amendment deals with freedom of speech and expression and I highly
suggest you read up on it before shooting off your mouth and demanding
anything, Mr. Gillespie.
There is another age-old saying, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out
of the kitchen” and I highly suggest that you get out of that kitchen.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican National Committee Friday asked CBS

allow a team of historians and friends of former President Ronald
Reagan
and his
