Cindy Sheehan went too Far in Comparing Clinton to Bush
Mary MacElveen-January 27, 2006
Today, someone sent me in an email the following quote made by Cindy Sheehan: 'And about Bill Clinton . . . . You know, I really think he should have been impeached, but not for a blow job. His policies are responsible for killing more Iraqis that George Bush. I don't understand why to rise to the level of being president of my country one has to be a monster. I used to say that George Bush was defiling the Oval Office, but it's been held by a long line of monsters" But this person did not state where she found this quote. Upon searching, I did find it and you can read the full text here: Sheehan to Sheehan--An Interview of Cindy Sheehan
Ms. Sheehan, while I will defend your right to state your opinion, President Bill Clinton did not deserve to be impeached. He was not a ‘monster’ as you stated above. Through these sanctions against Iraq, it was supported by United Nations unlike Bush’s invasion of Iraq. And yes, Ms. Sheehan, it was about the ‘blow-job’ since the White Water investigation did not bear any fruit and was later proven unfounded. What a waste of $70 million dollars of our tax money. What a waste of our FBI resources to pour over DNA evidence left on a blue dress.
This impeachment process targeted at Bill Clinton derailed this nation’s business from being attended to. If you were to read William Rivers Pitt’s article: Real American Traitors, you will see exactly how this impeachment process hurt this country. This impeachment of Pres. Clinton was the very thing that led me to leave the Republican Party and join ranks with the Democrats.
While I do not condone former President Clinton’s actions in the Monica Lewinsky affair and lying to the American people about it, it pails in comparison to the lies told to congress and the American people why we had to invade Iraq which had no connection to the attacks that befell us on September 11th.
In a previous article written by me: Bush: "How do you know his life would have been good?" Bush is quoted as saying this to another mom who lost a son in this most heinous war. Her name is Dolores Kesterson. You are not the only mom to have lost a son in this war and how do you think she would feel with you calling anyone who killed her son as a “freedom fighter”? I never heard heinous remarks such as the one Bush said to this mother made by President Clinton. Have you?
As I have seen the very images coming out of Iraq and have written about it where we used white phosphorus in Fallujah that is what a monster makes. President Clinton never used such a substance on anyone.
As you often bring PNAC (Project for a New American Century) and the Israeli government being behind our decision to invade Iraq, I often wonder if you even knew of PNAC before you son was killed. In my gut, I feel as if you have been somewhat handled by outside forces to elevate their message. The reason I state this is not that many people know of PNAC. Trust me, since I have asked your average citizen if they know what PNAC is and every single person I asked did not know.
While I heralded your courage in the past, you alone are not the voice of the anti-war movement. There are many lesser known people who are not being given any podium.
Ms. Sheehan, you went too far in calling President Bill Clinton a monster. By doing so, you have lost any support I have had for you. While no administration is perfect in my eyes, this Bush administration is by far the most abhorrent.
