Hypocrisy II or Never Mind He’s A Republican
J.G. Schwam - October 8, 2003
Laura Ingraham is loyal Republican windbag. She will gladly toe the line and use her slice of the people’s airwaves to screed any “Hollywood elitist” who speaks against Bush or any other so called elitist she’s asked to screed. In fact being a hypocrite is no problem for her, once at least one of those so called elitist’s shows up all of a sudden to toe their line. Enter The Terminator.
Ingraham said recently said; “Hollywood people -- should just stick to the entertaining….I think he was going to see how difficult it was going to be for him, and I think he realized $38 billion deficit, no experience in business, do we really want someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger in there?… I don't think he wanted to go through that. I mean, we don't really need "Terminator 3" in the governor's mansion”.
Once however Schwarznegger’s candicacy for the California governorship became official the GOP elite’s hypocrisy gene kicked in. Then Ingraham does a 360 and is suddenly wholeheartedly endorsing him. It doesn’t matter that he’s pro-choice, anti-school vouchers, pro-gay rights and probably has more sexual peccadilloes in his closet than Bill Clinton could ever dream of. Day’s later Ingraham says she’s “betting on him”.
Also jumping on the hypocrisy band wagon is the me too master of the GOP windbags, WABC Radios’s, Sean Hannity. Hannity, incapable of an original thought of this own, Hannity piled on with his back track into the, it’s ok he’s a Republican mantra. Hannity said; “When you have people from Hollywood, as some of them have come out, and definitively stated, some having been to Baghdad for five seconds, saying that [Saddam Hussein] has no weapons of mass destruction, declaring they know. It is a statement that is rooted in just utter stupidity and ignorance”.
Once Schwarznegger signed on a serious candidate Hannity flipped into justify Schwarznegger back track mode; “I don't agree with him on abortion. He's right on partial birth abortion. He's right on parental notification. He's right on those nuances. I don't agree with him on domestic partners, you're right. On tax issues, he said yes, no new taxes to fix the economic [crisis], only if there's a natural disaster or emergency. I actually think that's a fairly responsible position. I agree with him there. And he's talking about great economic issues -- he's conservative on immigration issues….. Taxes, economics, immigration, prayer in school, all -- just abortion and the other issue of gay rights. That's it, guys”.
All well and good considering Hannity’s opposition to reproductive choice is so profound that in his book “let Freedom ring he lumps Roe v. Wade in with the Dred Scot as “twin blots on our nations history”. Let us only hope that Schwarznegger doesn’t come out in favor of slavery. Hannity will have to justify that one too.
Of course no discussion of the hypocrisy of GOP windbags is complete without the mention of the founder of the genre, Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh of course wrote the book on hypocritical reversals. Limbaugh spoke the truth at least once in his life when said the following about Schwarznegger; “Hear me now and believe me later, my friends: all these conservative orgasms over Arnold Schwarzenegger are…fake. I know that (R) next to Schwarzenegger's name excites the White House, but his own words prove he's not a conservative”.
Like all, once they got the call (probably) from Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie that Schwarznegger’s the man, Limbaugh flipped like a cheap beach chair to sing Schwarznegger’s praises and said; "the charisma, the star power, the stage presence…the likeability, the personality" of the actor and arguing that if he runs like a true "conservative" he can "own California.". Limbaugh like all conservative operatives is so desperate for recognition he added, “just so long as he (Schwarznegger) is "serious about sounding conservative."
The GOP Neo-Con cabal is so desperate for any power grubbing half wit with any miniscule semblance of credibility to embrace even a modicum of their party line and stand with their wish to become the masters of the universe they are just not bright enough to ever become that they’ll roll all over themselves when it happens. It’s just good for the Democrats that Goofy and Mickey aren’t running for governor of as Schwarznegger say’s Cali-for-neeyah on the GOP ticket. Not yet least.
