Scared and Getting Scarder

J.G. Schwam - June 6, 2004

Tony Blankley proved that Bush’s 2004 campaign is petrified of the smart guys on the right side of the 2004 presidential campaign, the democrats.  The GOP’s response to its brightest critics is to trot out one of their dimmest to launch what is surely seen by many as a racist attack.  It is academic to ask why not attack on principle instead of vitriol.  The answer is also academic; they have no principle to cite.

Tony Blankley, Karl Roves spin ape at the Washington Times Blankley thinks he insults Soro’s by calling him a “Jew who figured out a way to survive the Holocaust” as if that is a sin.  Should Blankley have been born a Jew in Europe during the holocaust surely such an effort would have been beyond his capacity.  To assert as Blankley further does that Soros is a robber baron is laughable, as the head of one worlds largest and most historically successful mutual fund groups Soros created more wealth than the GOP’s favorite robber baron Ken Lay turned to dust.

Blankley’s mouth is so twisted with imbecility that his talk out both sides of it hardly makes enough sense to decipher his intent.  On his appearance on Fox News June 3rd Hannity and Colmes Show Blankley said; “When a man is worth this kind of money, and he's spending it on trying to influence the American public in an election, trying to buy the election, he's not going to. We have a right to know what kind of an unscrupulous man he is”.  Despite exhaustive investigations launched by the SEC against many mutual funds, Soros’s unlike many other notable funds was given a clean bill of health by the regulators. To attempt to screed Soros for attempting to do for the Democrats what Lay and more notably Richard Mellon Scaife did and continues to do for the GOP is nothing more than sour grapes and politics of destruction.

Blankley’s stated that “the public is entitled to know what kind of a man he is”, Hannity dimly retorted, “You’re right, Democrats that support him are doing it for the money”.  Like virtually all of the GOP’s spin this statement is silly on its surface, as if to assert that the GOP takes no money from some of its financiers for moneys sake alone..

The attack against Soros began immediately after his speech atthe “Take Back America Conference in Washington D.C. last week.  Soros accurately pointed out that Bush’s war on terrorism has turned Americans “from victims to perpetrator.”  Soros likened Bush’s doctrine to Fascism.  Popular statements by Bush supported by law enforcement officials like his handmaiden John Ashcroft such as his “you are with us or are with the terrorists” are fascistic in both nature and interpretation.  The fact that they supported by law enforcement officials like Ashcroft legitimizes that nature.  Newsmax.com in a feeble attempt to use Soros’s words against him quoted him as saying “I’ve spent the last 15 years of my life helping people use democracy. If there is one thing I know, it’s that using military power to bring democracy can’t work”.  The Bush administration which is clearly convinced that Soros is wrong on this subject has apparently not learned much from Vietnam, Chile Argentina, Somalia and other failed wars to impose democracy.  Were the war in Iraq truly about imposing democracy they would not have attempted such a foolhardy endeavor.  Virtually any career State Department official, had they consulted them would have said so.

The Weekly Standard called the Take Back America conference a gathering of “Amateur and professional Bush-haters” does not do the organization the disservice it intends to, Bush’s actions and rhetoric demeaning to the world and real democratic ideals clearly portray to the world and many at home as Soro’s called the rhetorical aspect of Bush doctrine “America Supremacists”.  The Project for a New American Centuries seminal work,Rebuilding America’s Defenses clearly attempts to assert the righteousness of America as supremacists.

Whether you give stock to Bush’s slide in every credible poll or not, the GOP and Bush are clearly scared and getting scarder of loosing in November.  Since they have no successful policies to cite and run on, all they have is their pathetically simple minded attack puppies like Hannity and Blankley.  If they attacked on substance they would loose and they know it.   Expect more such laughable insubstantial statements.
